Can’t Be Evil Contest: Part 3

At the beginning of May we announced the start of a new movement to take a stand against the broken promises and anti-user practices of big tech companies in the form of the Can’t Be Evil Contest series. We challenged developers to use Blockstack’s decentralized network and developer toolkit to create apps that leave the user in full control of their data, and protect fundamental digital rights.

Looking back at the last two Can’t Be Evil Contests, it’s clear the community rose to the challenge. And nowhere was that felt more than at the recent Blockstack Summit in San Francisco.

Announcing the Can’t Be Evil Contest: Part 3

Today, we are excited to announce the start of a new contest: Can’t Be Evil: Part 3.

Our esteemed judges; Dani Grant (Analyst, USV), Larry Salibra (Founder, New Internet Labs), and Jeff Domke (Head of Product, Blockstack PBC), will select the top apps in the 3 new categories below. Winners will earn prize money, ongoing payments through App Mining, and other prizes.

Prize preview:

  • $5,000 for 1st place in each category, additional cash for 2nd and 3rd prizes
  • Ongoing payouts from App Mining for every entrant (currently App Mining rewards $300K every month across all apps)
  • more!

Join the ‘Can’t Be Evil Contest: Part 3’ by submitting an app that is private by default, leaves the user in full control of their data, and protects their fundamental digital rights. In other words, submit a Blockstack application and take your first steps into a growing ecosystem that is flipping the current status quo on its head. You’ll not only be eligible to win the prizes shown above but also to receive ongoing monthly payouts via App Mining (which were just increased!).

Entries Due: December 18th, 2019 at 11:45pm EST
