We’re pleased to announce the addition of Prof. Jaswinder Pal Singh as a new member of the Blockstack PBC Board of Directors. I first met JP when I started my PhD at Princeton in 2008; over the last ten years he has been a mentor and a source of clear thinking, not just for me but for Blockstack. JP started advising Blockstack when it was just an idea and has helped shape it into a leading platform for building decentralized apps.
JP Singh brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Blockstack PBC board; he is a leading computer scientist with broad industry experience. JP Singh joined the Princeton University faculty in 1995 after finishing a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University, where he worked on parallel architecture with President John Hennessy. JP is a leading authority on scalable infrastructure and applications and has been a consultant to Intel, Microsoft, and the U.S. Government. He is a coauthor of Parallel Computer Architecture: A Hardware/Software Approach, a primary textbook in Parallel Computing, and has authored several patents and over 75 published research papers.
He was the only computer scientist to receive the Presidential Early Career Award (PECASE) in 1997 and also received a Sloan Fellowship in the same year. He is a co-founder of Gwynnie Bee, Inc., an internet technology company in the retail space. He was co-founder and CTO of FirstRain Inc., a business analytics company, where he led the development of award-winning technologies for precise information extraction. He served as an advisor to Right Media, Inc., a SaaS online advertising exchange that was acquired by Yahoo in 2007 for $680M. Since 2013 he has served on the board of directors of 8×8, Inc. He teaches a popular class at Princeton that trains the next generation of CTOs.
JP’s addition to the Blockstack PBC board comes as part of our effort to take Blockstack into our next chapter of growth. Welcome, JP!
