Weekend Playlist: Blockstack Podcast Roundup

As most of us remain somewhat isolated to help stem the spread of Covid-19, it can certainly get a bit claustrophobic. With everything closed and orders to stay inside being the norm, we hope you’re safe, healthy, and not going too stir crazy as we face these uncertain times together.

If you do find yourself healthy and safe, but a little cooped up, you’re in luck. That’s because thankfully for crypto and Blockstack fans, Co-founder Muneeb Ali has been on a hot streak of podcasts the past few weeks. So, instead of firing up Netflix again this weekend, go on a wide-ranging journey through crypto by listening to a few of these great shows. Topics range from Bitcoin’s untapped potential, to Proof of Transfer, mining, the ‘narrow waist’ of Web 3.0, how we got to the modern web in the first place, and even a bit about Covid-19.

You’ll find links for each show on your favorite platforms below and here is a Spotify playlist if you want to listen straight through.

Stay healthy and enjoy!

Muneeb comes back to Base Layer to talk all about version 2.0 of Blockstack’s Stacks blockchain coming out because there’s a significant change: miners on the network will need to post BTC to mine a block. That BTC will then get shared with nodes maintaining a copy of the ledger. Muneeb and I talk about how the team acknowledges bitcoin as the most secure blockchain in the world and why. Come listen and learn all about Proof of Transfer and what the implications are. → Full show notes

‘The Crypto Conversation’ with Andy Pickering: Snow Crash – Why Blockstack is the inverse of the world computer (from Brave New Coin)

Muneeb explains that over a dinner with Balaji S. Srinivasan in February, Balaji convinced him that COVID-19 was about to crash the world and all precautions should be taken. Balaji was right. The simple but robust protocol design for the Internet Protocol (IP) took the internet to 15B connected devices through the period of fastest technological change in history. Muneeb says Bitcoin’s protocol has the same properties – it is simple and robust – that’s why Bitcoin is the ideal narrow waist for Web 3. → Full show notes
